Happily, off the set of the upcoming movie “A Complete Unknown,” Timothée Chalamet is gaining a lot of attention for his enthralling performance as folk music legend Bob Dylan. Recent images taken at the Echo Lake Park filming site in New Jersey provide an engrossing look at the production, showcasing Chalamet with co-star Monica Barbaro, who plays Dylan’s girlfriend, Joan Baez.
Chalamet bravely took on the difficult role of Bob Dylan and was photographed on stage, belting out a song into a microphone while cleverly wearing a harmonica attached to his shirt. Barbaro came to join him, strumming a guitar like Joan Baez with great skill. Chalamet is dressed in a brown jacket that is layered over a blue shirt and jeans in these pictures that perfectly capture the spirit of the movie, and Barbaro looks stylish in a dress with a blue and purple pattern.
The biopic, directed by James Mangold, stars a strong ensemble cast, including Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Nick Offerman as Alan Lomax, and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash. Mangold recently confirmed that Chalamet’s portrayal of Bob Dylan will feature him showcasing his vocal abilities.
The actor’s versatility was praised by Chalamet’s vocal coach Eric Vetro, who noted how well he moved from his recent role as Wonka to taking on the unique voice and persona of Bob Dylan.
“It’s quite remarkable because transitioning from the Wonka character to Bob Dylan requires embodying a completely different persona, voice, and demeanor — and Timothée executes it flawlessly,” Vetro remarked. “Timothée possesses an extraordinary talent for seamlessly shifting between roles.”
