It appears that Disney/Lucasfilm are looking to make waves at the Cannes Film Festival with their upcoming production, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny directed by James Mangold and produced by Steven Spielberg. Although talks have been confirmed between Disney and festival organizers, no official plans have been disclosed. It will undoubtedly be a highlight if the film does debut at the festival on either May 17 or May 18.
The 2008 installment of the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, made its Cannes debut and was met with a 4-minute standing ovation. The movie will be released in the US and Canada on May 22 and 21 in France.
Disney’s decision to show Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny at Cannes before its theatrical release hints at a strong belief in its success. Reviews from the global audience will soon be available for us to Judge the success.
