The 5th and last season of the beloved Netflix show YOU is now being made. Netflix announced the start of Season 5’s production with a post on social media on Monday. They shared a behind-the-scenes photo featuring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg in New York City, where the story originally started. The post said, “Back to where it all began. The 5th and final season of YOU is now in production.”
Over the years, Netflix has brought us many shows that fans just couldn’t get enough of. But among them, none have sent shivers down our spines quite like YOU. This horror thriller, featuring Penn Badgley as the complex character Joe Goldberg, is gearing up for its fifth and final season, set to premiere sometime in the coming year. As the show gets ready to bid farewell, there’s a flood of new casting announcements and story hints being unveiled.
Season 5 Cast
Before, it was revealed that actors Anna Camp from Pitch Perfect and Griffin Matthews from The Flight Attendant will be regulars on YOU. They’re now part of the cast, along with Madeline Brewer from The Handmaid’s Tale, who was recently announced. And, of course, you’ll see your sweet, innocent next-door neighbor, Joe Goldberg, with a new scheme this time.
Release Date
Netflix hasn’t given us the exact date yet. They renewed the show for a fifth season back in March 2023, so we’re expecting it sometime in 2024. Filming for Season 5 of You has started, and if everything goes smoothly, we can expect the last season to be out by the end of this year.
First Look
On Monday, March 25, Penn Badgley, aged 37, was seen in character as serial killer Joe Goldberg from the hit Netflix series, strolling through the streets of New York City. He sported a black peacoat, maroon shirt, and navy blue slacks, resembling his previous role as Dan Humphrey in Gossip Girl. Notably, a gold band adorned his left ring finger.
Now that he’s able to restore his identity and return back to his old life in New York, we can’t help but wonder what he is up to now. Will he ever be able to get rid of his dark obsessions? We’ll have to wait until Season 5 to find out.
