Get ready for a star-studded showdown as the two A-listers team up in a feature film
Jonah Hill and Keanu Reeves are joining forces for a dark Hollywood story titled Outcome, which has been picked up by Apple Original Films. Hill will direct and co-write the dark comedy with Ezra Woods, and Reeves is in negotiations to star in the film alongside Hill.
Hill will also produce the project through his production company, Strong Baby, with Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin. Outcome will be an Apple Studios production.
The film follows Reeves’ character, Reef, a damaged Hollywood star who is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past. To confront his demons and make amends, Reef must delve into the dark depths of his past. Hill’s involvement in the project adds to Apple’s growing portfolio of movies with A-list talent in Hollywood.
This deal secures a home for Outcome, which generated buzz in November as a hot package in the industry. However, the current market for high-priced packages has become more competitive, with buyers being more selective. Reeves’ recent success with “John Wick: Chapter 4,” which opened to a franchise-best $73.5 million at the domestic box office and has grossed over $247 million globally in just 12 days, likely helped in securing the deal.
This project also marks another collaboration between Hill and Apple Original Films, as they are currently developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, with Scorsese set to direct and Hill starring and producing alongside Dines and Goodwin under Strong Baby. Hill’s production company, Strong Baby, most recently produced the Netflix comedy “You People” starring Hill, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Eddie Murphy, and Lauren London.
Hill, known for his comedic roles and his Oscar-nominated performance in Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” made his feature directorial debut with the well-received coming-of-age drama “Mid90s” in 2018, followed by the critically acclaimed documentary “Stutz” in 2022, which tackled mental health issues.
Apple Original Films, which made history as the first streaming platform to win Best Picture with its drama “CODA” last year, has two major releases scheduled for this year. In October, they will release Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and newcomer Lily Gladstone. In November, Ridley Scott’s historical epic “Napoleon,” starring Joaquin Phoenix, will hit theaters before streaming on Apple’s platform. Their next big release is the high-concept romantic action-adventure film “Ghosted,” starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, set to be released on April 21.
According to the sources, Hill and Strong Baby are represented by LBI, WME, and Yorn Levine, while Reeves is represented by Sugar23, WME, and Ziffren.
