The new season of ‘Bridgerton’ has made a big impact, becoming the series’ most successful debut weekend yet. According to Netflix, the first episodes of the third season, released on May 16, got an amazing 45.05 million views worldwide. This adds up to about 165.2 million hours of watching time.
For comparison, the second season, which came out in March 2022, had just over 193 million hours of viewing globally. However, that season was more than twice as long as the first half of the current season. It had about 22.7 million views during its opening weekend.
Even though the new season had an extra day for its opening weekend, making it four days instead of three, this only explains a small part of its huge lead.
The increase of 50 million Netflix subscribers since March 2022, along with the shorter length of the first four episodes of season three, likely helped ‘Bridgerton’ achieve these impressive numbers. Additionally, ‘Bridgerton’ set a new record, not just for itself but for Netflix as well, by having the highest single-week viewership ever recorded for any series on the platform.
Both previous seasons of Bridgerton are now in Netflix’s top 10 most popular English-language series, based on views in the first 91 days after release. With its strong beginning and four more episodes coming in June, season three is likely to join them. For more updates, keep following Feedbinge.
