The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey joins the star-studded cast of BBC’s hit prison drama Time as it is set to return for its highly anticipated second season.
Ramsey, known for her outstanding performances in popular shows like The Last of Us and Game of Thrones, will take on the role of Kelsey, a prisoner thrown into an unfamiliar world alongside fellow inmates Orla, played by Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who), and Abi, portrayed by Tamara Lawrance (Get Millie Black).
The second season of Time will see the action shift to a women’s prison, where Ramsey’s character Kelsey will navigate the challenges and dangers of life behind bars. Despite the constant threat of violence, Kelsey, Orla, and Abi will discover an unexpected sense of community and a shared understanding that may offer them hope in the midst of their struggles.
Ramsey expressed her excitement about joining the project, stating,
“I’m very happy to be a part of this project, working with an incredible team and following on from a stellar first season. And it’s such an honor to be Kelsey, I’m really excited to experience the world through her for a few months.”
Fans can also look forward to seeing Ramsey in the upcoming period drama Monstrous Beauty, where she will star alongside acclaimed actors Dominic West and Ruth Negga.
The first season of Time, which won two BAFTA awards for Best Mini-Series and Best Actor (Sean Bean), captivated audiences with its gripping portrayal of prison life in the UK and averaged over 10 million viewers per episode. Creator Jimmy McGovern has described the Season 2 cast as the:
“best cast I have ever seen assembled for any drama of mine.”
